After graduating in Business Administration from the University of Naples, Francesco Trapani has attended Marketing and Finance courses at the New York University.
Following three years as assistant to the Chief Financial Officer, in 1984 he became Chief Executive Officer of Bulgari. He has developed and implemented a successful long-term strategy based on product diversification, distribution expansion, aggressive investments in communication and a highly professional organization structure.
In order to accelerate the international expansion, in 1995 Francesco Trapani has successfully led the listing of Bulgari at the Italian Stock Exchange, with the Bulgari family (which he is a member of) as the controlling shareholder, while other activities were undertaken aimed at increasing the brand awareness at a global level, such as the creation of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, a joint venture with
Marriott International / Ritz-Carlton.
Through these steps, what in 1984 was a small jewelry company with a turnover of approximately EUR 25 million, 5 shops and 80 employees, has become the Bulgari Group, one of the leading global players in the luxury market, with a portfolio of products ranging from jewelry to watches, accessories, perfumes and hotels, a turnover of approximately € 2 billion, 4.000 employees and 300 stores
In 2011 Bulgari joined forces with the LVMH Group: at the time of the transaction the company was valued € 4.3 billion.
Francesco Trapani was the Chairman and CEO of the LVMH Watches and Jewelry Division for the following three years and a member of the Board of Directors of LVMH until 2016. The Division had a turnover of just under € 3 billion, counting 8 different brands, 8000 employees, 18 manufacturing plants and some 600 stores.
At the beginning of 2014 Francesco Trapani was appointed Executive Vice Chairman at Clessidra SGR SpA, a private equity company leader in Italy, making his entrepreneurial and managerial expertise available for the company, thus further enriching his own professional background with specific skills in the asset management business. After 18 months he was appointed Executive Chairman.
In March 2017, after a significant investment, he joined the Board of Directors of Tiffany&Co. Inc.
In May 2017, with a reserved capital increase, Francesco Trapani became a shareholder in Tages Holding, taking up the position of Executive Vice Chairman.
More recently, his Luxembourg based international Holding has invested in the food business, acquiring the absolute majority of a restaurant company, Foodation and of an ice cream firm, Geloso.
Born in Rome and living in London, Francesco Trapani is 61 years old, married and has four children.
